Win cash for describing your research!

Would you like to win some cash for describing your research? If so, then the 3rd Annual UNB 3MT event is for you!

What is a 3MT event?

3MT stands for Three Minute Thesis. Students have three minutes and one power point slide to present their research in an engaging and accessible way to a nonspecialist audience. They are judged on the comprehension/content and the engagement/communication of their presentation by a panel of three individuals from the university community. Participation in a 3MT activity is an excellent professional development opportunity. In addition, CASH prizes will be awarded, and the winner will also receive an expenses-paid trip to represent UNB in the Eastern Regional 3MT event.

Are you eligible?

Participants are expected to be registered in a Master’s or PhD program and to have made substantial progress on their research (analysis and interpretation). The presentation must be based on the primary research that the student has conducted for the degree; students who have defended their thesis but not yet graduated are eligible.

Why should you do this?

Students are often asked to describe their research. Being able to do so in a clear and concise way showcases effective communication and presentation skills, assets for most professional opportunities you will seek after your degree.

This year, our UNB event will be on March 22 as part of the Graduate Research Conference.

Register by February 5 by completing the registration form.
